Glow in the dark

We all deal with our own stuff in our own ways
Some take the work stress, some throw it out the window
Some worry about the future, some live in the present
Some wallow in self-pity, some stride right through the downs.
But we all do fix ourselves the best we can.
And we all deal with our own stuff in our own ways.

And not everyone gets past everything.
Some turn blue, some quieter
some red, some even seem brighter
We all turn differently from different situations.
Some become haters and some lovers.
Broken hearts, selfish tones and aggression.

So anyway, we all deal with our stuff and in our own ways,
And in doing so, paint onto ourselves a pattern which is unique.
That’s why I am a different person and so are you.
Like new paint over a painted canvas, we gather ever more colors
turning the bright childhood canvas slowly through tapestries in time,
into a pattern of black and gold – some on the surface, some run deep.

Yea yea, so we are a product of our experiences, what’s new?
Well nothing to be honest, it’s just that to draw this analogy
between personalities and canvases has interesting implications.
It’s easier to take darker tones as we put more paint.
The brighter tones though, need to be guarded well.
For them to survive till the painting is complete.

The painting survives as a whole, not the strokes.
It won’t matter to have had good moments and good deeds
unless we nurture them and allow them to shine out.
The goodness sure shines out but can easily get lost.
Darkness instead, tends to stick easier in this world.
Guard your light, for it’s what will make you shine.
