Chandvilla

I have started loving this house after all.
It’s the layout and the large living room perhaps.
Or is it the winter sun in that little balcony
which is otherwise my least favourite of all.

When it rains, I come home early to avoid traffic
Or perhaps I want to live a bit while it rains.
I sit by the window and sip my tea
And watch the rain wash our balconies clean.

On party nights and hungover Saturdays
We have fit a lot of people in here
And let them have their space too.
Just as we do in our hearts, is this our heart?

I like how we gradually brought some furniture in
And how it’s all so light, we move it around a lot
Like memories adjusting themselves
To continuously rework the space in our hearts

I have started loving this house after all.
The sunlight and the wind, but not so much the walls.
What good are the walls if they shed dust?
If they can’t take the weight of the picture frames?
